Osama dead….

I am not certain if he is. And how many of you think the same? There was a time when we thought it was impossible to find Osama and kill him. Then after a couple of years we thought he might have been killed in all those raids the US army had conducted in Afghanistan, especially in Tora Bora when it almost got its target. Then we saw a video of Osama to prove that the US missed him. Then there were reports that he might have died because of his chronic illness. Again we saw a video proving that those reports were wrong.

So what is different this time? We have the US President claiming they killed Osama and that they have his body. We have seen world-wide plaudits for this landmark moment in the global war against terrorism. We see pictures of the house in Abbottabad (a place just 100 kms from Islamabad - how closer can you get!!!), where Osama was hiding. We have news channels showing blood on the floor in the house. We heard this person coded as Geronimo was EKIA-ed, and buried in the sea.

What is the last piece of the story going to be? Is it another video from Osama rubbishing all these claims wrong? Or is there going to be a full-on reprisal from the Jihadi groups? Or is the US releasing photos or footages of Osama post-life?

Whatever it is, Osama is not dead. Whatever motivated all those educated and supposedly rational youngsters take up ruthless Jihadi ways has not changed. Al-Qaeda for all striking purposes might have been subjugated, but the fall-out groups are still high and running. Its just one-down in the US’ most wanted list. Osama has left an indelible mark, though not the right way. But then, who am I (for that matter anyone) to decide what is right or wrong.
